Programs offered at Wasco Independence High School

WIHS serves as the learning center for the Wasco community housing three comprehensive high school diploma programs – Continuation, Independent Studies, and Adult Education Program.

Continuation Program

Continuation Program is a high school diploma program designed to meet the needs of students aged sixteen and older who have not graduated from high school, are not exempt from compulsory school attendance, and deemed at risk of not completing their schooling. Students enrolled in continuation education programs are often credit deficient. Others need a flexible educational environment because they are employed or engaged in family obligations.

Independent Studies Program

The Independent Study Program offers alternative instructional programs and different diploma requirements than the comprehensive schools. It offers students a flexible daily schedule which cannot be met by regular high school programs. Courses of ISP are not identified in this course catalog as students may attend WHS and WIHS curriculum alignment programs.

Adult Education Program

Adult education is a public education program for all adults. Adult education offers free classes for adults 18 and older. Students can earn a high school diploma.  Also, depending on funding which fluctuates yearly, we may offer vocational courses such as medical assisting.  Evening classes could also included English as a Second language for beginners and intermediate students.
